VOLLEYBALL RULES  

  • 10 players allowed on the court with a minimum of five players per team to start the game.
  • 5 minutes grace period from starting time, failure to be on time may result in a win for the opposite team.
  • Teams will be allowed 2 timeouts per game.  Time outs will be one minute and during a time out the clock will be stopped.
  • Players cannot join once the game has begun.
  • The games will be played on 3 touch rules.
  • Captain winning the toss will have the right to choose either service or the side of the ground.          
  • If the game does not finish in the given time, it will be decided by who is winning at the time.  In case of a tie, the team serving will be the winner.  The game may be called even if the ball is in the air if time is finished.
  • Playoff format to be determined by organizing committee. 
  • Crossing the net or touching the net is considered a foul.
  • Ball hitting the net poles is considered out.
  • Service on the line is in.
  • Service must be done in the appropriate designated area.
  • Serviceman can enter the court only after the ball has crossed the net.
  • Spiking is only allowed on the first ball. Open handed is only acceptable.
  • Punching will not be allowed, and is considered a foul.
  • Referees call is the final decision. Only team captains may speak to the referee during the game.
  • All decisions to be made by organizing committee on any matter over the duration of the tournament.
  • Team?s obligations as referees include supplying 5 members of their team. The requirement is 4 linesmen and 1 referee.
  • There will be a penalty of one point, for any team that does not turn up for their allocated time for refereeing/linesman.
  • Any player subject to violent and/or abusive behavior will be ejected from the tournament and his team may be subject to disciplinary actions, including defaulting the tournament.
  • Any person caught for misconduct will be removed from the property immediately.
  • All players who participate in any way with the tournament assume all risk and liabilities; and hold the tournament, organizers, locations and any representatives harmless from loss or damage to personal property or injury.
The organizing committee has a right to add/modify any of the above rules without prior notice. Their decisions will be final.
